BYD

BYD ("Build Your Dreams") started as a battery maker in Shenzhen in 1995 and is now the world’s biggest seller of electric and plug-in hybrid cars. It makes its own Blade batteries, motors and chips. BYD entered the UK passenger-car market in 2023 and now sells a full range here: the Dolphin Surf city car, Dolphin and Atto 2 hatch and crossover, Seal saloon, Sealion 7 SUV, a fast-growing family of DM-i plug-in hybrids (Dolphin G, Atto 2, Sealion 5, Seal U, Seal 6, Ti 7) and the Shark plug-in pick-up. In September 2026 it registered over 20,000 cars in the UK, its best month so far, through around 147 retail sites.
