Overview

The Xpeng G6 (from £39,990) is an electric SUV from Xpeng. It offers a claimed range of 326 miles, 252 hp and 0–62 mph in 6.9 s.

The Xpeng G6 is a mid-size electric coupé-SUV and one of the fastest-charging cars on sale in the UK. The 2026 update brought around 20,000 changes – a full-width front light bar, revised chassis and suspension, better seats and software – and the dual-motor AWD Performance version arrived in Britain for the first time.

Battery, range and charging

All G6s now use LFP batteries: 68.5 kWh for the Standard Range model (up to 292 miles WLTP) and 80.8 kWh for Long Range (up to 326 miles) and Performance (about 318 miles). Thanks to an 800-volt platform, peak DC charging is 382 kW for the smaller pack and 451 kW for the larger one, so 10–80% can take as little as 12 minutes on a fast enough charger.

Performance and driving

Rear-wheel-drive versions have 252 hp and 440 Nm, good for 0–62 mph in 6.9 seconds. The AWD Performance adds a front motor for 487 hp, 660 Nm and 4.1 seconds. Top speed is 125 mph. It is very easy to drive and quiet on smooth roads, though sharper bumps and potholes unsettle the ride, and it feels like a big car on narrow lanes.

Interior and space

The minimalist cabin centres on a large touchscreen, now faster and easier to use, plus a capable voice assistant. The updated car gets manually adjustable air vents, new seat covers, heated and ventilated front seats with massage, a panoramic roof, two wireless phone chargers and ambient lighting. Rear space is generous for the class.

Technology and safety

The G6 scored five stars in Euro NCAP’s 2024 tests. Driver aids are comprehensive and the warnings are now less intrusive and easier to turn off. A heat pump and a digital rear-view mirror are standard. Regenerative braking levels can only be changed through the touchscreen.

Who is it for?

Drivers who cover long distances and want minimal charging stops, and anyone shopping for a Tesla Model Y alternative with more standard equipment.
