About the POER300
The POER300 is GWM’s double-cab diesel pick-up, sold in the UK in Lux, Ultra and Vanta trims from £31,495 excluding VAT. It returned to the market in late 2025 as one of the most affordable full-size one-tonne pick-ups, undercutting key rivals on a spec-for-spec basis.
## Engine and economy
There is a single engine: a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel with 181 bhp and 480 Nm (354 lb ft), paired with a nine-speed automatic. Official economy is 32.7 mpg with CO2 of 230 g/km, typical for this class.
## Performance and driving
0–62 mph takes 11.0 seconds and top speed is 99 mph. It normally drives the rear wheels, bringing in four-wheel drive automatically, and has low-range gearing and a locking differential for serious off-road work, where it proves very capable. On the road the ride is unsettled and tiring on long trips, there is noticeable body lean, and motorway noise is high.
## Interior and space
The double cab seats five, though rear headroom is tight for anyone over six feet. The square load bed measures roughly 1.5 x 1.5 metres and is deeper than a Ford Ranger’s. Payload is about one tonne (1,050 kg) and maximum braked towing is 3,500 kg, so it qualifies as a commercial vehicle for VAT and tax purposes.
## Technology and safety
Lux comes with leatherette seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless phone mirroring and charging, rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control, lane-keep, blind-spot monitoring and autonomous emergency braking. Ultra adds heated and ventilated powered front seats, a heated steering wheel, a sunroof, a 360-degree camera and a load-bay step; Vanta adds black exterior styling.
## Who is it for?
Farmers, tradespeople and towing owners who need a proper one-tonne, 3.5-tonne-towing pick-up for less money. Its rivals are the Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max and KGM Musso; the Ranger is more refined but far more expensive.
